Day 24: Movie

When I was 19(20?), I moved out of my parents' house, moved in with some friends, and then spent a good year in my bedroom painting while "watching" movies (art student who didn't party). During that time, I discovered Amelie and fell in love with the sweet quirkiness of the movie. The film was a work of art in itself and between the visuals and the feelgood nature of the film, it provided me with sense of comfort that wasn't as easy to come by anymore.

I watched the movie so many times, that I was able to see it in my head while I was painting and it was playing in the background. I was doing just that, one day, when I invited Rachel over for the first time to hang out (we were new friends through work). It was a nice day, so I was working in the living room, with the door open and she walked up, right when Amelie was counting how many people were having sex in Paris. Rachel had never seen the movie before and wasn't prepared for a montage of orgasms as a greeting, to say the least...
