Day 19: Cooking
So I'm sure we're all well aware at this point, that I am not the cook in the household. Don't get me wrong, I can cook a meal just fine, but when it comes to paying attention to details and prioritizing that the meal comes out delicious rather than practical or efficient...that ain't me.
I drew this from a photo I grabbed of D cooking us a "simple dinner" the other day. He was..... basting....the steak? I have no idea what the term is for what he's doing, but I included a video of him doing it from a while back. So this simple meal included twice baked potatoes (that's one more time than I'm willing to bake a potato), sauteed green beans with garlic and onions (amazing), and some steaks. Now, these steaks had been previously cooked via sous vide with various seasonings, for goodness knows how many hours, and then they were pan-seared and....basted? with rosemary, to juicy, crispy perfection. Hours. This takes HOURS for him to do. From coming home to going to bed. And he DARES to call it a "simple meal!"
I love him.
